Who won Dancing with the Stars 2010?

Last night we got to see the finale of Dancing with the Stars 2010 with the big results show that everybody was waiting for. The contestants had all danced well on the performance show the night before and it seemed that the trophy could be won be any of the remaining three contestants and their partners.

So you want to know who won? Drum roll please…. it was Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger helped out of course by her partner Derek Hough. OK so it did seem a bit obvious for most of the season that she’d win but in the last 2 or 3 weeks I sort of fooled myself that Erin Andrews or Evan Lysacek may sneak away with it.

A good point made by Allyssa Lee on the Los Angeles Times is that because the judges scored for 4 dances in the finale this time around it seemed to have a greater influence on the result this season. Back to the show though and first off the three remaining contestants and their partners all danced an Argentine Tango and after this it was time for the third placed contestant to leave the competition. The couple who left were Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

We then saw the obligatory dances from previous contestants and surely a series highlight. The legendary Buzz Aldrin ushered in to the theme from “Star Wars”. It was a moment that must have made everyone at home smile. At last we came down to the final performances from Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough, and Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. Nicole Scherzinger and partner went for a lively jive which was energetic and impressive and scored a perfect 30.

Evan Lysacek danced a great quickstep that I really enjoyed but sadly only scored 28 which meant it was really all over. The Mirrorball trophy belonged to Nicole Scherzinger and many congratulations to her. I still feel a sense of anti-climax about it but on the day the best dancer won. Did you agree with the results on the night and are you pleased that Nicole won, or would you have liked to see one of the underdogs come through? We’d love it if you would share your thoughts with us
