Alexandra Wallace, UCLA Student, Films Racist Rant (Video)

Wallace issued an apology Monday, saying "I cannot explain what possessed me to approach the subject as I did, and if I could undo it, I would." See more here.

Self-identified UCLA student Alexandra Wallace has gained national notoriety -- and more than 1,000,000 views -- for posting a YouTube video which shows her in a 3-minute long tirade against Asian students.

In the clip, called "Asians in the Library," Wallace says the "hordes of Asians" at UCLA lack American manners. She also mocks their speech and faults them for calling family in the wake of the tsunami. "I swear they're going through their whole families just checking on everybody from the tsunami thing," she said.

She continues:

All the Asian people that live in all the apartments around me...and everybody that they know that they brought along from Asia with them comes here on the weekends to do their laundry, buy their groceries, and cook their food for the week.

It's seriously without fail, you will always see old Asian people running around this apartment complex every weekend. That's what they do. They don't teach their kids to fend for themselves...

Hi. In America we do not talk on our cell phones in the library...I'll be typing away furiously, blah blah blah, and then all of the sudden, when I'm about to, like, reach an epiphany, over here from somewhere, 'OHH Ching chong ling long ting tong? OHH'

She concludes the video by saying that "even if you're not Asian you really shouldn't be on your cell phone in the library." How diplomatic.

The Daily Bruin reports that university spokesman Phil Hampton called the video repugnant, and added that the student is inquiring into whether Wallace is enrolled as a student.

well i dont think she was being racist as much as she was pissed that she was trying to study and the phone use was rude and the maybe it just bugs her the attention the young adults are getting from the asian families. that are caring for the students s for , thats their custom they are very close , she must not understand that, that is all.She needs to understand their ways its not that they arent trained to fend for their selves, that's their way...who knows?

Actually, I liked the song a lot. More than anything, I think it's a really nice musical composition. I played it in a loop and listened to it many times. It's very sweet at places.

The song is hilarious!
But this vid is sort of blown out of proportion. who cares, YES she was disrespectful towards their culture. But hell, it is so annoying when people are loud in the library regardless of their race. People shut up! It's a library go outside and talk, the library is a place of silence and focus; it's not a social club go to a café. She had her rant, the best thing is just to ignore her.

Further, I find it hard to believe, because Asian people are usually respectful people, maybe it's a California Asian thing. Perhaps, What should be criticized are those stupid cell phone and crack-berry addicts it's not just Asians it's everyone especially those stupid white girls. For the love of God put it down, especially when your driving.

She said she didn't mean to be offensive. How can you not be offensive by saying that? I'm Asian so that was very offensive. And not only Asians talk on the phone at the library! I want to rant about so many other things on this but that would just be a waste of time.

I have no problem with what Alexandra said. Free speech, anyone? I also don't think she needed to apologize. This whole "politically correct" movement is out of control.
Sometimes people say things you don't want to hear. Grow up and take it for what it's worth - one person's opinion.

ALL SHE SAID ITS TRUE, ALMOST ALL ASIAN PEOPLE LACK OF MANNERS AS WE OCCIDENTALS CONCEIVE THEM. WHY ALL MINORITIES ARE NOW TRY TO CHANGE THE COUNTRIES AND SOCIETIES WHERE THEY ARE GUESTS TO CONVERT THEM INTO WHAT THEY ARE RUUNING FROM? THIS IS NOT A RACIST AFFIRATION IS A CULTURAL ONE, SINCE ASIAN RACE DOSNT EXIST, JAPANESE ARE DIFFERENT FROM KOREANS AND CHINESE ARE OTHER PEOPLE
