Teams back to full strength, India bat in the final

Gautam Gambhir lines up to pull the ball

The first big step, winning the toss in Dambulla, was taken by India and MS Dhoni had no hesitation choosing to bat. He also announced Harbhajan SIngh and Ashish Nehra were back.

Sri Lanka, though, had to make a few difficult choices. The easier calls were the return of Lasith Malinga and Nuwan Kulasekara. As for the trickier choices, they preferred the experience of Muttiah Muralitharan ahead of Suraj Randiv; Farveez Maharoof, who took five wickets in the dress rehearsal for the final, retained his place. Thilina Kandamby, too, stayed in ahead of Thilan Samaraweera.
